Global Game Jam Antwerp
The theme of this game jam was "Mask". From that our team make a small cosy narrative about noticing the little things throughout the day. It was a very fun experience to work with my team mates and getting to know a whole lot of new people.

My Work
Game Design:
In this game jam we were first ideating with everyone that was participating. Afterwards we grouped up in our team and had to narrow down to something the whole team was happy with. This was not an easy process. After we finally had the idea down me, Robby and Anita outlined the content of the game. We brainstormed a lot of different things you would be doing during the day, and how we can give the players the opportunity to pay attention to the things around them.

Art:
First me and Anita established the visual style. We gathered reference and chose the colour scheme. This was quite important as 3 different artists were going to be working on the art.
I then worked on this small interaction of watering the plant and made the office for our little monkey. Additionally, I have made an interaction for pouring tea and getting water out of the dispenser, though sadly they didn't make it into the game.

Our Team

What went well:
Creating a uniform art style with 3 artists was not an easy feat. Though I do think we did quite well on that. Working together with the developers to integrate everything nicely was another feat of ours.
What I learned:
Brainstorming took a lot of time. With this team it was not easy to agree on what we're going to make. In the end we did pull through and decide on something we all wanted to make. I also learned to never leave a bike near the train station in Antwerp unsupervised. Mine got stolen on my first night there.
